Code of Conduct

Created July 2017

All participants, sponsors, hosts, speakers, volunteers and organizers with the Charlotte Coffee Collective (CCC) are expected to adhere to the Code of Conduct as outlined below. Failure to do so can result in removal from the group and barring from participation in future events and/or the online forum(s) organized by the CCC.

The Short Version
Don’t be a jerk. We strive to create spaces that welcome and empower all people. Our words and actions- as organizers, participants, event hosts and the like- should reflect that.

The Longer Version
Our community is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for all people, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, race, ethnicity, and/or religion (or lack thereof). CCC Organizers reserve the right to refuse participation to individuals, businesses, organizations and/or events that have engaged in the harassment of CCC participants.

Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, race, ethnicity, religion. It can take the form of sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and/or unwelcome sexual attention.

Individuals asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.

Event hosts, sponsors and venues are also subject to the anti-harassment policy and the Code of Conduct. In particular, hosts should not use sexualized images, activities, or other material when promoting or executing an event. Booth/vendor staff, volunteers, venue staff and the like should not use sexualized clothing/uniforms/costumes, or otherwise create a harassing environment for attendees.

If an individual engages in harassing behavior, CCC organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the event with no refund.

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a CCC organizer immediately. Event organizers and hosts will be happy to help participants contact hotel/venue security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the event. We value your safety and personhood.
